Nakamura Minami: From Tsujido to Reiwa, go! and Turbo Fire
Nakamura Minami is a rapper from Tsujido in Fujisawa, Kanagawa. After working with TENG GANG STARR, she began her solo career in 2019 with records including “Reiwa” with TREKKIE TRAX CREW and “Ride.” Her Japanese-language rap connects collaborations with salute and TANTRON, club music and writing for other performers.[1][2][3][4][5][9]

Festival music in Tsujido, then rap
Nakamura told HIPHOPCs that she began playing taiko drums, shinobue flute and kane in local shrine-festival music in third grade. She later played in a band and experimented with multitrack recording. She recalled noticing differences between rhythms learned through oral tradition and the regular pulse she encountered elsewhere.[1]
Her route into rap came through Kamui during a period when she was experiencing homelessness. She said that writing her experiences and feelings in a notebook led him to suggest rapping. Those memories later informed “Kokodoko,” but she also stressed that she did not want to speak for everyone who had experienced homelessness.[1]
From TENG GANG STARR to Reiwa and Ride
She formed TENG GANG STARR with Kamui and others in 2015 and began working solo in 2019. In the interview, she recalled being unsure whether to continue as the group went on hiatus. Invitations from andrew, Lil’Yukichi and Pocyomkin helped her take that step.[1][2]
“Reiwa,” with TREKKIE TRAX CREW, was released on May 1, 2019. The solo single “Ride” followed on August 30, with andrew supporting its production. Having mainly written verses in the group, she described learning to shape a whole song and its hook as a new process.[1][3][4]
A Japanese voice across different club sounds
Nakamura appears on “go!” from salute’s TRUE MAGIC, released on July 12, 2024. Ninja Tune’s release information and salute’s own Bandcamp track list document the collaboration. She also features on “Open!” by TREKKIE TRAX CREW, umru and nextdimensional, released on January 16, 2026.[5][6][8]
In her interview, she described first learning unfamiliar styles by visiting clubs and working out how to rap over the music. More recently, she felt that producers were sending beats designed to bring out her own voice and delivery.[1]
Miracle Body and Turbo Fire
Released on September 10, 2025, “Miracle Body” is credited to Nakamura Minami, mezz and andrew. Nakamura and mezz wrote the lyrics, while andrew handled production, recording, mixing and mastering. The release description identifies affirming one’s own body as the theme behind the collaboration.[7]
“Turbo Fire,” with TANTRON, appears on Forza Horizon 6: Hospital Records. The label lists July 24, 2026 as the release date of the 24-track soundtrack album.[9]
Nakamura told HIPHOPCs that the initial invitation was to record for a label compilation; she learned about the game placement later. She also recalled footage of herself appearing on a screen at Coachella in 2025.[1]
Writing for voices beyond her own
Alongside her own records, Nakamura writes for other performers and game-related projects. In the interview, she mentioned developing lyrics and flow for Toua’s “MY Routine” and work connected to Den-On-Bu and CHUNITHM. She described enjoying the different thinking involved in writing for someone else and wanting to continue that work.[1]
