Kenayeboi is a rapper and skater from Kobe, active mainly around Osaka. Skateboarding and music through his father
Kenayeboi told HIPHOPCs that his father’s interest in street culture made skateboarding and hip-hop part of the same environment as he grew up. Yokonori refers to moving sideways on a board. In his explanation, it describes a physical stance and culture, rather than simply a way of moving to music.[1]
He recalled the fear of falling or getting hurt before attempting a trick, and the exceptional satisfaction of succeeding despite it. By the time of the interview, he and the Freshdude skateboards crew had opened a skate shop. Skating remained part of the same everyday life as making music.[1]
TRAP SPOT and a growing set of collaborations
The six-track TRAP SPOT was released on November 27, 2019, with production involvement from 3ch and appearances by Jin Dogg, Young Coco and Owen. Kenayeboi also named Jin Dogg and Young Coco as important nearby influences in his interview.[1][2]
The seven-track Slime island with Elle Teresa followed on July 21, 2020. TRAP SPOT 2 arrived on June 17, 2021, and TRAP SPOT 3 on June 6, 2022. The series offers a route through changing collaborators and beats, alongside the partnerships on his later records.[3][4][5]
Kenayeboi recalled releasing an earlier EP called Board Breaker with Yen Yen Beats before TRAP SPOT. He said it was no longer available at the time of the interview.[1]
Close to OMG, connected with Fukuoka
Kenayeboi explicitly said he was not a member of OMG. He described working alongside its artists as part of a separate crew, being treated as family and maintaining those relationships while everyone worked independently.[1]
He traced his friendship with Fukuoka’s Yvngboi P to inviting P over when he was stranded in Osaka. Kenayeboi recalled that encounter leading to “TRAP HOUSE” and to wider friendships with PGS. Their joint five-track EP WANA was released on April 14, 2025.[1][6]
From a delayed plan to BOARD BREAKER RING
In the interview published on May 15, 2026, Kenayeboi discussed postponing a release he had announced for May 16. He said Yen Yen Beats had suggested another way to present the project, and that he wanted to bring the Board Breaker name back into view.[1]
BOARD BREAKER RING subsequently arrived on May 24, 2026. TuneCore describes it as a collaborative album by Kenayeboi and Yenyenbeats and lists ten tracks. Its credits name Yenyen as composer throughout, with LIL G handling mixing and mastering.[7][8]
His official artist page also lists the single Breakers Anthem, released on September 21, 2026. It provides a later listening point beyond the album discussed in the interview.[9]
Becoming an entry point into trap
Kenayeboi spoke about learning from friends across Japan while feeling there was still more he could do at home. His stated goal was to become a reason for people to discover hip-hop and trap. Comparing his solo catalogue, collaborations with other rappers and work with a single beatmaker offers several ways into that ambition.[1]
