Yuki Chiba Profile: From KOHH to Team Tomodachi and Mamushi

Yuki Chiba is a rapper born April 22, 1990, in Oji, Kita-ku, Tokyo. He debuted as KOHH with the 2012 mixtape YELLOW T△PE, making his name through plainspoken, first-person accounts of daily life in the housing projects where he grew up.

As KOHH, he appeared on Keith Ape’s “It G Ma,” the physical-edition version of Frank Ocean’s “Nikes,” and Hikaru Utada’s “Boukyaku.” He ended activity under the KOHH name in December 2021 and released “Team Tomodachi” as Yuki Chiba in February 2024. The records on each side of that change trace a continuing career across two names.

From KOHH to Yuki Chiba

After widening his range into writing and music-video direction, he returned in February 2024 under his birth name with “Team Tomodachi” (チーム友達). The song set off a TikTok-driven chain of remixes that connected rappers across Japan, and the follow-up “Mamushi” with Megan Thee Stallion peaked at No. 36 on the Billboard Hot 100 — opening a route to the world that never leaves the Japanese language behind.

His first Nippon Budokan solo show under the Yuki Chiba name took place in July 2025, followed by the announcement of his Warner Music Japan agreement and 300 Entertainment Japan affiliation. HIPHOPCs reads these developments through the people making the records with him: Koshy connects “Team Tomodachi” and “Mamushi,” while the later Murda Beatz collaboration opens another production relationship. Follow those production credits to hear how his voice moves between different musical settings.

Interviews: whose account are you reading?

In HIPHOPCs’ YTG/Sam interview — English, Sam recalls meeting Yuki Chiba as a child, spending time in the studio and accompanying him on tour. These are Sam’s recollections, not an interview with Chiba himself. They offer a route into a friendship that a list of release credits cannot explain.

The following Japanese-language links have different roles: an interview with company representatives, a magazine preview, reporting and a third-party radio transcription.

Corrections and source review on October 3, 2026: the 2017 MTV EMA claim is a nomination, not a win; the song title and MONOCHROME release order are corrected; the KOHH-to-Chiba interval is about two years and two months. The label agreement is distinguished from a CD release credit and an announced move from a confirmed move. Interview dates and speakers are identified.
