Reading Natchan Montana’s “引越し FREESTYLE” (Hikkoshi FREESTYLE): The Room Changes, the Two of Them Go On

It’s a song about moving out. It is not a breakup song.

“引越し FREESTYLE” (Hikkoshi FREESTYLE, hikkoshi meaning moving house) closes “NATCHAN MOUSE,” the EP that Natchan Montana and Mouse released on June 12, 2026. It is a love song about choosing to keep living together even when the apartment changes. A music video produced by GREENPLAZA came out on October 9, which is what sent me back to the lyrics.

The reason for leaving is right there in the lyrics

One day the management company calls. The six-tatami room in Itabashi, Tokyo, that the two of them share was a single-occupancy unit all along. So they have to go. That is the whole story.

The plot is not “the relationship ended, so one of them moved out.” Wanting to stay together and having to leave this place come one after the other in the lyrics. Moving does not mean parting. That is the first thing that makes this song interesting.

Thursday is burnable-trash day. A passing mention of tokuho, the Japanese label for foods with approved health claims. The IKEA chair that counts as the best seat in the house. The lyrics remember the room through details like these, one at a time. Their own little talk show for two is another memory from that room. When the word “love” lands with real weight, it is because the time they spent living together is laid out so concretely just before it.

The feeling spills out of the room too. Seeing the partner off from the same platform as they squeeze onto a packed Saikyō Line train in the morning. Grading papers part-time to afford a necktie that would suit them. Even the business card shown to “Mama” at an introduction gets a line. The moving boxes and the stink bugs come with a flatly explicit sexual joke. The song does not skim off the pretty memories. It sings the funny parts and the raw parts as they were. That is what makes the song so candid. The sweet talk, the mess of living together, all of it in one song.

None of this requires matching the narrator to the artist, line by line. The point is not checking the artist’s private life against the lyrics. It is how these scenes of daily life were built into a love song.

A June song with an October video as the way in

“Hikkoshi FREESTYLE” is track six, and the closer, on the six-track collaborative EP “NATCHAN MOUSE,” released June 12. So this is not a new single. A song that had been out for four months just got a video.

According to Music Natalie’s October 9 report, the video is the first release on the official YouTube channel of the creative unit GREENPLAZA. LUKE produced it, and Tosa SUZUKI directed and shot it.

If you read the lyrics first, compare the line “a future where we’re together,” which appears at the start and again at the end, with the management company’s phone call wedged between them. They have to leave, but the wish to stay together never moves from the first line to the last. If you came in through the video, read the lyrics and watch it again. The objects in that room will look a little different.
