DJ2high: Los Angeles, DPG and the Music Behind the Stories
DJ2high, also credited as DJ 2HIGH or DJ2HIGH, is a Los Angeles-based DJ and producer. His work includes production for Japanese Magenese’s “Cali Jap (feat. Daz Dillinger & VOCA Luciano).” HIPHOPCs has interviewed him about his move between Japan and the US, his connection to DPG, and the relationships behind his music.[1][2][5]
Between Yokohama and Los Angeles
In Part 1 of the 2025 interview, DJ2high recalls DJing in Japan, making buying trips to Los Angeles, and meeting Snoop Dogg and Daz Dillinger. He identifies himself as a member of DPG in that conversation; his own SoundCloud biography also describes his connection to Tha Dogg Pound. [1][2]
Asked about finding his place in the local music scene, he suggests that being a beatmaker rather than a rapper helped: sound allowed him to connect without relying on words. His account shows how making beats became a way of building relationships.[2]
A starting point in the credits
Released in 2023, “Cali Jap” brings Japanese Magenese together with Daz Dillinger and VOCA Luciano. The distributor credits DJ2HIGH as composer and identifies him as the beatmaker in the release description. It is a concrete example of his production bringing Japanese and US rappers onto the same track.[5]
In Part 2 of the 2025 interview, he describes supplying the beat for Snoop Dogg’s “We’ll Miss You” and discusses how he judges a song’s direction. The music gives the reader a way to follow the personal stories into specific recordings.[3]
